Another Update.

Daddy seems optimistic about his throat “working” correctly by Monday. But I”m not so sure. I think he just really doesn’t want to get a feed tube put in. But they really need to do it. We are going on 5 days now of no food or water whatsoever. He’s been doing great, but when his roomate gets his meals…  It’s not as good.

Other than that, he’s getting all kinds of company, and it really helps. I just hope he keeps up the positive attitude. I want to take the dogs up to see him. Not in the hospital, but when he gets to John Heinz. They have a court yard visiting area, so you’d think it would be okay. I guess will see when it gets here.

I guess that’s all for now. I’m in the process of uploading a bunch of images to shutterfly. They sent me and email about free shipping. And I have a ton of pics that need to be printed for my scrap book. So, I’m gunna go finish that up.

Daddy Update

Most of Daddy is getting better. He’s laughing, joking, talking. He’s not leaning to the left as much. He still walks like he has a shine on but it’s getting better. Unfortunately, the only thing that isn’t getting better at this point is his throat. The muscles are working correctly at all.

Since swallowing is essential in eating or drinking or really every day living, my dad is having a real hard time. He hasn’t eaten in 3 days now. So, needless to say they are now going to be inserting a feed tube until they can get his throat muscles working right again.

He’ll be spending a few weeks in John Heinz Rehab center. They’ll work with his speech, walking, and swallowing. I’m still very optimistic with it.

He’s had lots of company over the past 3 days. During the day, you can see he gets a little down, but once everyone starts coming around he picks up – a lot actually. He wasn’t happy about the feeding tube – but he’s not really complaining to much. I think he realizes there’s not much he can do about it.

He’s still picking on the nurses saying he’s busting out of there. Today he held up a Get Well Card, and said, “See, I have friends on the outside.” She’s just laughed, but then so did the rest of the room. He seems to get the most company out of anyone on the floor.

Anyway, I’ll update more when I get a chance.

If stress could be measure with a mercury thermometer…

..my stress levels would break the thermometer.

Yesterday, my dad had a stroke. What started out as a normal tuesday soon turned into panic. I was on the phone with a client when my cell number rang and then my work line again. It was my mom telling me my dad was driving himself to the hospital because he was dizzy.

Needless to say, I ran out of work, and haven’t been back since. I plan to head back tomorrow as my dad seems to be getting a lot better. I’d post more, but frankly I’ve heard/said it so many times already. I guess I’m still kind of hoping I’ll wake up soon.

 Anyway, any questions, just ask.

Showing My Country Side: The Benton Rodeo

Well yesterday was my family’s annual trip to the Benton Rodeo. Yes I know. In the words of Tommy (My cousin’s boyfriend.), “Why would I want to go and see a bunch of horses?”

But I love it. My parents use to take me to this rodeo in NJ called the Cowtown Rodeo. I used to love going there. We always had a routine of seeing a Phillies game Friday night, driving to Woodstown NJ, getting a hotel. Saturday was Chinese and the Rodeo. Then Sunday we’d come home. Now this one brings back those memories.

Anyway, I took the day off work Friday, which was nice. I was able to to just relax most of the day. We then went down to the rodeo. I didn’t get to talk much to anyone, but that’s okay because I was in the events.

After the rodeo they had their fireworks. They have it every year on the Friday night event. They are always awesome. This year they lasted about 15-20 minutes. We moved our car up closer than we normally do, which put us right under them. It was awesome. I really love those ones that explode really really big, and look like they are going to fall right around you. Although, this time all the ashes really were. Anyway, had a great time, can’t wait til next year.

Oh, and here are some pictures. (They aren’t very good, I know. It’s hard to take a picture of an animal running like this. Plus the lighting… ick.)
