Is ACS selective?

Anyone who really knows me. Knows I’m a huge supporter of the ACS. But doesn’t it seem that they advertise about check up and campaigns for all cancers except lung cancer? It’s like they are saying they people who get lung cancer are asking for it because they smoke. Granted this may be true for most patients but what about the people that are diagnosed with lung cancer and have never even touched a cigarette, let alone smoke it? Do they deserve it? Most people would probably say no, but yet I never see anything raising money specifically for lung cancer.

Of course, this will bring me to the smoking bans that government officials are trying to put in place in this area. And I’m sure you’ve guessed I’m all for it. Now, I’m not trying to say that no one should smoke at all. (I dream of the day when they willingly don’t. But don’t ever think it would happen.) I just really believe everyone has a right to control the environment they are in. And that includes being in a smoke-free place while dining and/or socializing.

Unfortunately, the ban has seemed to make people who do smoke believe that the government is trying to hinder their freedom to do as the please to their own bodies. Which really isn’t true, it just making sure the people who don’t smoke still have a choice about their own. As I mentioned before, although most lung cancer patients are probably smokers, there are still a group of them that developed it because of second hand smoke.

My grandfather had lung cancer. Now, I don’t really remember him enough to say whether he smoked or not. And he’s passed a while ago, so it’s not like raising money then would’ve helped cure or save him. But it could’ve helped him and/or save people since them.

Disclaimer: I don’t think lung cancer should be researched and all others shouldn’t. I believe they all should be researched, tested, and cured. It just seems that more emphasis is placed on other forms of cancer, and I just wanted to state my own opinion.

Musical Desks & a Pat on the Back

Yeah, so they moved me yet again at work. This will be the 8th time I’ve moved but 7th different location. Its really a good thing they keep hiring new employees. If not I would’ve sat in almost half the desk in the office. You’d think I’d be smart and bring some of my stuff home…. but, I can’t it makes my desk homey. Anyway, I know there’s at least one more move in the future, but hopefully that one isn’t too close. But until then, I’ll just enjoy my new home.

Apparently, they’ve started a new survey system too. Normally, when we close a project and email gets sent for satisfaction I guess. Well the clients have the ability to put the names of the people they worked with. Can you believe mine was one of the first back? And mine had to be the first email that got sent to staff?? (Aka the whole company got it). Eh, I appreciate the pat the back. I’m just not so sure I wanted it to go to staff. Maybe just my boss and myself. At least, another’s gone out since so mine wasn’t this strange email that got sent to everyone.

Well, I suppose that’s enough for tonight.

Happy Memorial Day!

How can some people relax so easily? I know, I know. Relaxing is suppose to be easy. Relaxing wouldn’t be relaxing if you had to work for it. But it really seems like my body and mind has a hard time grasping the concept.

Like today for example, I didn’t have to go to work. There’s isn’t anything terrible important to do around the house that can’t wait until another day. Yet, I sit here feeling lazy that the whole day passed by and I haven’t done anything productive. Maybe I’m a workaholic and just don’t know it. But I really wish I could just get my mind to sit still for a few minutes. So I can enjoy whats left of my 3-day weekend.

Some Beach… Some Where

My day today consisted of a trip to our local Wally world. Normally there used to be this awesome greeter lady, she use to say hi as if she meant it. She was always friendly, and I don’t think I ever saw her not happy.

Although now, I can’t believe that she’s gone. Rumor has it she got fired. From what I hear, one of the lovely Walmart customers bought Flowers at Walmart and gave them to her as a gift. Apparently, accepting them was a big no, no and they fired her. What was she suppose to say, “No take your crummy flowers away from me.”? I know a lot of companies have that kind of rule, but I’d think Walmart would have a little heart.

Kim, what are you talking about? This is the same company that won’t let their charity collecting or fundraising people stand inside the doors. And as a treat for these volunteers, they hand out frozen donuts…. I swear if that place wasn’t so darn convenient!!!

Why can’t napkins be more like paper towels?

Who was it that decided that napkins should be like tissues just with out all the extra lotions??  I mean really, they’re suppose to be a tool to clean up a mess. But how helpful can a napkin be when the second it gets wet it falls a part.

Now, your probably wondering how much time I have on my hands to sit and ponder this. Well, it really came to me at work today. I was washing out my cup for the night and we were out of paper towels. So, I had to deal with the task of not only trying to dry my hands with a napkin, but I also had to dry my cup with one.

One of the guys I work with suggested that it was probably because a paper towel doesn’t fold into quarters as nicely as a napkin does. Which makes perfect sense, but that’s why I idolize Bounty today. They would inventive and made their napkins to be just as sturdy as their paper towels. Yay for them!

What do you think? Besides that I’m crazy. Ok, I’m done now.
